The year 1 boys from the Woodkirk family came together at Woodkirk for a fantastic evening of football.
There was a mixture of skills and games, where the youngsters were able to learn new tricks and skill and the try and take on another school in a little competition.
There were a few bloody noses, and injuries, but on the whole everyone had a really great time.
The festival could not have run without the help if the girls football team at Woodkirk who helped the year 1′s with all their skills and refereed the games at the end!
All the students left with a certificate to take back to school.

Year 2 Mini Tennis Festival
On Monday 10th March, Rothwell Primary, Woodlesford Primary and Rothwell St Mary’s Primary all took part in the Leeds South Schools Partnership Year 2 Mini Tennis Festival at Rothwell Sports Centre.
The event was organised by School Sports Coordinator, Miss Wharrier and ran by 12 Year 10 Sports Leaders from Royds School.
The festival was very successful and for most children it was their first time they had represented their school at a competitive sports event.
All competitors had a very enjoyable morning as they played 5 games each in order to score points for their school under the supervision of the Sports Leaders.
At the end of the Festival only 4 points separated 3rd place, Rothwell St Mary’s and 2nd place, Rothwell Primary.
The winner of the 2009 Year 2 Mini Tennis Festival was Woodlesford Primary. Congratulations to them and all the children who took part.

Cockburn College of Arts held their first KS2 dance festival last month. Dance teachers from the school delivered sessions in 5 of their feeder primaries, and created material to be performed in the show.
The aim of the festival was to introduce students to choreography, different dance style and performance. The whole of Beeston Primaries year 6 cohort were involved and spilt into male and female dance groups. The boys dance focused on breaking down the barriers and stigma often attached to boys and dance. Their ‘Matrix’ themed dance contained break dance, contemporary dance and gymnastics. The festival acted as a celebration of dance and showcased many gifted and talented dancers. It is hoped that when they participate in dance classes in year 7, they will have a positive and enthusiastic approach to the lessons.
KS3,4, and 5 dancers performed pieces during the show, to highlight to progression that can be made in dance throughout a child education. These included BTEC yr 10 students , yr 11 male duets and past pupils from Cockburn, who are now studying at Park Lane College, who performed A level dance work.
‘ It was the best day of my life….’ (year 6 male pupils Beeston primary)
Just to say a very big thank you for all the hard work you put in over many weeks to prepare for yesterday. It was a fantastic experience that the kids will always remember. (A.Giff Beeston primary staff)

All of the primary schools within the family attended the year 3 multi-ball skills festival at Woodkirk High School.
The year 3 pupils had a great time taking part in a variety of different activities such as basketball, netball, hockey, tennis etc.
They learnt many of the core skills for ball games and then had the opportunity to put their skills into mini games.
As you can see from the photograph below, all the pupils recieved a certificate and all looked to have enjoyed themselves.
