The 3rd annual primary schools hockey tournament took place at Slazengers Hockey Club in Horbury on the 20th October. It was a very gloomy, wet afternoon, however it was brightened up by the enthusiasm of over 80 pupils from South Leeds and Wakefield primary schools.
Girls and boys from across the too clusters of schools competed in a very exciting tournament. The schools from the wakefield area were St Peters, Netherton, West Bretton and Horbury Primary.
The schools from the South Leeds area were Westerton, East Ardsley and Blackgates.
After lots of tough battling games the two schools that got to the final were Netherton and Horbury St Peters.
The final was a very close game but St Peters managed to keep hold of the trophy for yet another year as they were crowned the champions of the 2009 Slazengers Hockey Tournament.

Cockburn family Sportshall Athletics come and try event- Pupils from Westwood, Middleton St Mary’s and Middleton St Phillips attended a ‘Come and Try’ event.
We had a number of Young Sports Leaders from Cockburn run the event and helped make it a great success. Everyone did really well in their first taste of sportshall athletics and everyone left with a smile on their face. Middleton St Mary’s have entered the sportshall athletics competition held at Cockburn in November so good luck!
