The Cockburn Family Football Tournament was held for Yr 5 & 6 mix gender pupils.
There were 4 schools (Cottingley Primary, Middleton Primary, Beeston St Anthony’s and Hugh Gaitskell) who all competed in a very successful tournament.
The final, which was Cottingley Primary B Team against Hugh Gaitskell, was a close game with Hugh Gaitskell finally winning 3-1.
Middleton Primary finished 3rd after beating Cottingley A Team in the 3rd/4th Place Play-Off.
Some Yr11 students from Cockburn helped make the event a great success. There were approximately 70 pupils participating who all seemed to enjoy the event. Thanks to staff who brought the their pupils and the people at Cockburn who helped make the event a success.
Finally, well done Hugh Gaitskell!

Cockburn College of Arts held their first KS2 dance festival last month. Dance teachers from the school delivered sessions in 5 of their feeder primaries, and created material to be performed in the show.
The aim of the festival was to introduce students to choreography, different dance style and performance. The whole of Beeston Primaries year 6 cohort were involved and spilt into male and female dance groups. The boys dance focused on breaking down the barriers and stigma often attached to boys and dance. Their ‘Matrix’ themed dance contained break dance, contemporary dance and gymnastics. The festival acted as a celebration of dance and showcased many gifted and talented dancers. It is hoped that when they participate in dance classes in year 7, they will have a positive and enthusiastic approach to the lessons.
KS3,4, and 5 dancers performed pieces during the show, to highlight to progression that can be made in dance throughout a child education. These included BTEC yr 10 students , yr 11 male duets and past pupils from Cockburn, who are now studying at Park Lane College, who performed A level dance work.
‘ It was the best day of my life….’ (year 6 male pupils Beeston primary)
Just to say a very big thank you for all the hard work you put in over many weeks to prepare for yesterday. It was a fantastic experience that the kids will always remember. (A.Giff Beeston primary staff)

Tuesday 2nd December
Held at Royds High School
On a cold wintery day our Orienteering went very well. This was the culmination of the family competitions that had already taken place with the winners representing their family of schools.
The pupils had a great time and competed to a high standard.
The adults who accompanied them though got very cold, but this did not dampen their spirits and they encouraged their pupils very positively.
The event would not have been as successful had it not been for the valued help of the Royds Sports Leaders – Thank you very much!
Congratulations to all the pupils who worked extremely well.
Well done to Rothwell C of E winners of the Year 5 Competition (Again!)
Well done also to Oulton winners of the Year 6 Competition
