Year 2 Mini Tennis Festival
On Monday 10th March, Rothwell Primary, Woodlesford Primary and Rothwell St Mary’s Primary all took part in the Leeds South Schools Partnership Year 2 Mini Tennis Festival at Rothwell Sports Centre.
The event was organised by School Sports Coordinator, Miss Wharrier and ran by 12 Year 10 Sports Leaders from Royds School.
The festival was very successful and for most children it was their first time they had represented their school at a competitive sports event.
All competitors had a very enjoyable morning as they played 5 games each in order to score points for their school under the supervision of the Sports Leaders.
At the end of the Festival only 4 points separated 3rd place, Rothwell St Mary’s and 2nd place, Rothwell Primary.
The winner of the 2009 Year 2 Mini Tennis Festival was Woodlesford Primary. Congratulations to them and all the children who took part.

On Friday 16th January 2009, the Royds Family Year 3 & 4 Dance Festival was held at Royds School.
Rothwell St Mary’s, Rothwell CofE and Woodlesford Primary Schools all attended with their teachers and all performed amazing dances.
Some schools had been working with Dazal Dance and Vicky came along to Dance with Rothwell St Mary’s.
Royds students also performed 2 dances which they had learnt in Sadie Flower’s Dance Workshop, which the children all enjoyed watching.
Thank you to all the children and class teachers for making it a wonderful afternoon.

Held at Royds High School
On a cold wintery day our Orienteering went very well. This was the culmination of the family competitions that had already taken place with the winners representing their family of schools.
The pupils had a great time and competed to a high standard.
The adults who accompanied them though got very cold, but this did not dampen their spirits and they encouraged their pupils very positively.
The event would not have been as successful had it not been for the valued help of the Royds Sports Leaders – Thank you very much!
Congratulations to all the pupils who worked extremely well.
Well done to Rothwell C of E winners of the Year 5 Competition (Again!)
Well done also to Oulton winners of the Year 6 Competition
