Orienteering is an activity that can take place on your school site and can involve all of pupils from Reception up to year 6.
Starting with simple classroom-based activities developing onto playground and your own school grounds. For the more adventurous, moving onto using other local school sites (they are all mapped), and for the real adventurous using local off site facilities.
Orienteering is a ‘treasure hunt’ that involves the pupils using map skills to find clues as quickly as they can and returning to a base.
Orienteering:
• Develops self-confidence
• Encourages decision-making
• Is Inexpensive
• Is Accessible
• Is Safe
• Is Cross Curricular
• Is Fun!!
