Four primary schools brought their hockey teams in year 6 down to Slazengers Hockey Club. The Woodkirk Family of primary schools are trying to forge a link between our schools and the hockey club. The evening was a huge success and all pupils thouroughly enjoyed their evening and experience playing on the astro turf.
East Ardsley were the winners of the tournament by a huge margin due to their successful goal record throughout the evening.

Hockey Team
Many of the pupils left the tournament showing interest in joining the club on a Sunday mornings when Slazengers have their training sessions.
Well done to all schools who took part.

Orienteering
Yorkshire and Humberside Schools Orienteering Championship
Ten pupils from East Ardsley Primary School entered the Yorkshire and Humberside Schools Orienteering Championship, organised by South Yorkshire Orienteers.
It was their first major competition, and they achieved excellent results.
The team, of five boys and five girls, consisted of six Year 5 pupils and four Year 4s. The Year 5 girls gained first place in their group; whilst the Whole School team came second in the Primary Schools team event.
Orienteering was introduced into the school at the beginning of this year, after mapping of the school grounds and staff training by the Leeds South Sports Partnership.
An orienteering club; which takes place during a lunch time, is very enthusiastically supported by over thirty children from Year 4 and 5.
The club attracts many children who do not take part in other team sports and has been a great success in increasing the physical activity within the school; as well as the number of children participating in inter-school competitions.
A very successful Woodkirk family competition has been held on the school grounds for Year 3s; whilst the Year 4 and 5 children have undertaken the orienteering course at Leeds Metropolitan University.
The school and children are all incredibly proud of the team’s achievement in the championship; but are now looking forward to next school year, when we hope to continue our success with an even stronger team.
