Schools Sports Partnership for South Leeds
The PESSYP or PE and Sport Strategy for Young People is a very important national stategy which aims to provide opportunities for you and other young people to engage, enjoy and continue to participate in a wide range of PE, Sport and community activity opportunities.
The aim of the strategy is to provide all pupils with the opportunity to participate in a minimum of 2 hours of PE and school sport with an additional 3 hours of sport and physical activity in the wider community.
For 5 to 16 year olds, the expectation is that schools will provide 3 of the 5 hours, 2 hours through high quality PE within the curriculum and at least 1 hour a week of sport for all young people beyond the curriculum. Community and club providers will seek to ensure that an additional 2 hours a week are available.
